“The Moral of the Story”
Summer Performing Arts Camp with a Purpose
The Melanie Thornton Youth Arts Foundation’s “Moral of the Story” Summer Performing Arts Camp mission is to provide a safe, supportive, and non-competitive environment in which, through participation in theater arts, young people can develop strong self-esteem, self-confidence, and valuable life skills. This is the only program of this kind in the state of Georgia. “The Moral of the Story” program allows participants to study a classic piece of literature; specifically its history and moral lessons. Participants then develop and create a new story and play, based on the classic. The new play is formally presented at the end of the camp session.
